TALMA

Privacy notice — TALMA English Assessment

This page is for schools to adapt and share with parents and students. It is not legal advice. TALMA accepted this default on 2026-11-02 (D-19).

The school, not the sitting screen, obtains parent or student consent. Students are not asked to tick a consent box when they start.

What is recorded

When a student sits an assessment, TALMA stores:

Students never see scores, CEFR levels, or other children’s answers.

Where it is stored

Voice recordings are stored privately in Frankfurt (EU Central). Other files sit in the same private object storage in the European Union. Recordings are not on a public website. A saved link is not enough: only authorised staff who are signed in can play a recording, and then only through a short-lived staff link.

Who can see scores and recordings

Role Scores and history Voice recordings
School-facing TALMA administrators Yes Yes (play only; they cannot download a permanent public file)
Evaluators Yes, so they can score speaking Yes, on the evaluation screen
Viewers Yes, including CSV export No
Students No No
Other students or guests No No

Staff accounts are personal. Playback is not a public URL.

How long data is kept

Scores, comments, evaluations and recordings are kept until a TALMA administrator deletes that student (D-15). There is no automatic timed purge in this version. Deletion is irreversible: the student’s recordings, answers, sittings and name are removed. Published assessments and the question bank are not changed.

How to ask for deletion

A parent or school asks the school’s TALMA contact. A TALMA administrator then deletes that student in the staff app after typing the student’s full name. Do not email recordings or class lists to TALMA in an open ticket.

Hosting
